Canadian Indian

I am a cree Indian from Canada, and have lived in the USA for 3 years now. I have maintained fulltime employment have a ss#, anyways, I was recently released from my job, and applied for employment insurance, but have been told I am ineligible because I cannot prove that I am eligible to work in the US. I have contacted INS, and showed them all my treaty papers, and my ss card, and all relevent ID, however, they are now saying I need to prove lineage through 3 generations??? This was not told to me upon my arrival, or at any other time crossing the border, I just show them my papers, tell them I work here, and that is that, what can I do?????????

Re: Canadian Indian

Dear Sir:

Your eligibility to work in the United States is related to the status upon which you entered into the United States. I would need more specifics as to your status in order to determine your eligibility for employment insurance. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience.

Sincerely,
