Legal Question in Immigration Law in Minnesota

Immigration (work permits)

I am the director of nursing at a facility and i have a nursing assistant that applied to renew his work permit and has the receipt that he has done this. Is he allowed to continue working or do I have to take him off of the schedule until the actual work permit is mailed to him?

Re: Immigration (work permits)

An employer may accept a receipt as proof of employment authorization if it is a receipt to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged card. The receipt for merely renewal of employment authorization is not acceptable proof of employment eligibility.
