Legal Question in Immigration Law in Minnesota

Legal Citizen getting deported

A friend of mine was recently raided my immigration, throw in jail, was put on trial and then deported. All while being a United States American Citizen. His whole family was deported and they were all legally in american; they all had legal jobs and were all paying taxes. How is this possible?

Re: Legal Citizen getting deported

This is highly unusual, but the possibility that a U.S. citizen is deported has occurred, more than once. However, how do you know that your friend was a Citizen of the United States? Even though someone is legal in the U.S. does not necessarily mean he or she is a citizen of this country. The deportation of lawful residents who have committed crimes is very common, and it is possible that your friend committed a crime for which there was no defense, or for which the immigration court believed there was no relief for him and his family. I would check again, but it is not likely that a U.S. citizen was deported -- I hope.

Take care.
