Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Minnesota

Stealing a website page

Someone went to one of my websites where we post a newsletter. They completely downloaded a page from our website with graphics, our top logo, links and content (exact layout) and posted the page with our heading and everything exactly the same on their website. Even our copyright notice is on the bottom of the page.

We emailed this person and told them that they do not have permission to copy a page from our website and post it to their website. If they refuse to remove my page from their website, what are our options?

Thanks for any feedback.

Sharon

Apart from your civil claims, you may also have a criminal complaint. As every person who watches videos should know by now, the FBI investigates criminal violations of and enforces copyright law. Contact the FBI if the infringement continues.

You may have an action for injunctive relief and damages.

A Cease and Desist letter from an attorney is the usual first step in such a case, followed by litigation. A number of issues will influence your remedies and available relief.

Although this kind of "borrowing" takes place a lot, not, however, in the face of a copyright notice, which should be enforceable. How much it is worth? could you show damages? It may be more trouble than it is worth.
