Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

Bonus Checks Issued but not delivered.

My former employer annually splits the net profits three ways. One of those ways to provide bonuses to salaried employees. I was told by a VP of the company that my bonus check had been issued but that he was going to hold it for an extra six monthes of evaluations on me. When I complained about this I was summarily fired. Since the company issued a check in my name does that check legally belong to me?

Re: Bonus Checks Issued but not delivered.

No- the decision to cut, issue and deliver the check is wholly up to your employer, and deciding at any point to shut you out is totally up to the employer.
