Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota
Decrease in pay without notice
I began this employment 2 1/2 years ago. At the time of my hire I was given a compensation schedule. Nine months into my employment my job significantly changed adding more travel, more hours and more responsibility. Life went on. Late in '05 I had a performance review that showed absolutely no red flags, in other words, great review. In early '06 I was told that my commission schedule was being ''decreased'' and it should have been done back when my job changed. I didn't voice an opinion at that time whether or not I was 'OK' with that change. Weeks passed, I finally asked for a copy of the 'new' schedule as I didn't even know what it entailed. Turns out my pay has been decreased not only in percentage of sales - but the plateaus moving me up to the next level of percentage of been raised. Trying to calculate an actual difference is impossible as '05 to '06 or vice versa is not apples to apples. I am able to share that one month in '06 calculated by the '05 and '06 schedules resulted in a decrease of over $600 in that month.
I have a couple of questions, first is my option to not accepting this my leaving? If it does come to that would I still be entitled to UE benefits?
I would appreciate any input at this juncture. Thanks!

Re: Decrease in pay without notice
1st- Are you in collective bargaining?
2nd- Are you under any written contract or employee manual/handbook?
I would need to review those to advise, but generally if you are "at will" (you can quit or be fired any time without notice) your remedies are limited.
