Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

demeaning statement by empoyer

I work for a municipality and we had a council person come in and was talking about raises. He said that he thought a woman's place was in the home - barefoot and pregnant. Then he laughed and said he was just kidding. But I took offense to his demeaning comment. The city I work for is very small and posting this question would immediately alert our city attorney to the fact that legal advice is being sought. What should I do? Should I seek legal counsel?

Sounds like a prima facie case of hostile work environment.
