Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota
Employers acting inappropriately
I've recently handed in my letter of resignation. Since then my direct supervisor has incorrectly informed the owners I was leaving for health reasons. One of the owners went ahead and called a fellow employee to ask why I was leaving. The owners are looking for some way to ''get back at me'' they are very upset I'm leaving. I've done nothing wrong, I'm not breaking any of my contract. Neither owners have attempted to contact me and have been using my supervisor to intimidate me into staying. My supervisor has informed me the exit interview will not be pleasant and he wants to make sure his shifts are covered so he wont schedule it until I'm done. How do I approach this problem, they've been known in the past to try to take legal action against employees that have left? Do they honestly have anything, or do I have enough to back me up?

Re: Employers acting inappropriately
I need to know more to advise you. If you are an "at will" employee, you can terminate your employment at any time. Since you indicated you are resigning I am going to assume it is voluntary and not based on any adverse conduct or treatment directed at you. If you have any kind of employee manual or handbook I would want to review that to advise you fully.
I would be happy to discuss further with you by phone if you wish further assistance. There seems to be some piece missing from your story as to why your departure has created hostile reactions.
