Fired and accused for sexaul harrassment
I work for a food company in Minn and had a female broker ride with me. We work well that day I thought. A week later I was call in and fired with no reason given. Two weeks later I am questioned by unemployement about my ride with that she said I made a comment about her eating a frozen banana and that is steard at a little at a gas pump and I talked about a swingers club. I also had talk about looking for a new job and that I didn't like working for the company. What she left out was that I new the lady at the pump and I spoke to her about were she and my wife might have work together 20 years earlier and the swingers club had a story that I told her which was about my customers ex wife that ran this place and he was a bit of a strange duck. I never said I went to the club or approved of it. She said she could name 10 other times that I had sexual reference made which I did not and I am 51 and been around long enough to now better than that. I then got a copy of my file and this was all in there too. I feel that I have been wrongly accused of these things ,but what do I do to clear myself and to make sure that this does not effect me getting a job later and not be labeled as a sex harrasser. I would want to review your Employee Manual/Handbook and find out more about your situation, but you were correct in asserting a claim for UE benefits right away, as that sets the tone for challenging the misconduct allegation and provides a forum for getting fresh evidence into the record.
