Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota
I was fired and denied unemployment
In July of this year my license was suspended for, at the time, at least 30 days, 2 days later my employer fired me as part of my sales job included driving. I was told by my boss that I would be able to collect umemployment benefits, these were eventually denied by the company. I appealed the ruling and was denied again, the state cited ''employee misconduct'' (I received a DUI) as the reason. This same instance happened with a former employee and he was NOT fired even though his job also included driving for a different position. My questions are: should I appeal the finding again and was I discriminated against?

Re: I was fired and denied unemployment
If the DUI was not employment related, I would recommend you appeal.
If the "misconduct" was off the job, you should be entitled to UE compensation.
You may wish to have an attorney, as denial will cost you substantially.
