Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

Is is legal to have someone sign an employment contract and have them relocate for a job and then the day before they start tell them that they don't have a job anymore because the other person does not need to leave the job anymore?

Without having an opportunity to review the language of the contract, it is not possible to provide you with a reasonable answer. If the contract contemplated the prospective employee would have to move, and contained a specific agreement for a particular job, the "dropped" employee may have a claim for damages. Again, it depends entirely on the actual terms of the contract, and whether or not there was actually a legal contract between the prospective employee and employer, and not merely an informal understanding without any consideration.
