Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota
Is payment for mileage mandatory by law?
Hi, Im currently working for a company that requires me to use my personal vehicle on a daily basis for work and will not compensate me for mileage/gas. I put at least 300 miles a week on my car for work. I had assumed it was legal (unethical, but legal), but a friend told me he thought it was illegal. Is this legal to require me to use my own vehicle and not pay me for it? Thanks for any info you can give me.

Are you a contract employee or hourly?
ANything in writing about car usage?
Were you told up front?
It all comes down to the agreement for employment.
