Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

I was recently terminated from employment with a company that I had worked for, for over 17 years. If I request a complete copy of my personnel files, are they legally obligated to provide everything or is there some information they can withhold? I am most interested in my performance appraisals, job descriptions and job change documentation so that I can put together a new resume, I held a variety of positions over the years.

If the file is kept in this state, your former employer must produce within one week of your request. It does not have to provide supervisor's notes. But yes, performance appraisals, job changes etc., should be produced. See, Minn. Stat. 181.962
