Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

Unpaid wage scheme?

I have not received my last 8 pay checks. My employer is having major financial trouble! It was only going to be for a week or two, but now I feel trapped. If I quite, I think I may never get the money, but I just can't afford to stay. I can't believe that it would be legal to not print payroll checks in order to avoid the tax liability. This week I did recieve a company check, not payroll, and it has no withholding info on it, but in the memo section it reads ''loan''

Any ideas......

Re: Unpaid wage scheme?

There are MN statutory penalties for late payment of wages, and in a dissolution of the company and/or Bankruptcy, wages get top priority.

Call or email for further help. You need to make immediate demand to company to trigger statute.
