Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

I am wondering what the law requires an employer to pay for an employee who must travel to another state. We have several employee's required to leave their home here in Minnesota to help start up another branch of a distribution business in Colorado, The employer has provied plane tickets and a hotel. The employee's must work anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks before returning home.

My question is this: besides the normal wage and travel expense - is the employer required to pay for time not at home under normal situations. I want to know if I can be compensated for nights and weekends since it was the employer who stated - "You must go or you will be layed off and possibly terminated". I understand times are rough for ALL forms of business and am willing to do my part. I just want to be sure I am compensated in a fair way before I disrupt my home for the business' benifit.

"Must" travel to another state? There is no requirement.

You can find another job that doesn't require travel.

Like they say: "It's a free country"
