Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

I work for a licensed adult foster care for the elderly. One of our residents is not receiving medication that is prescribed by her physician because if it is given the staff is harassed/ and or has job threatened by the owner/license holder. I would like to quit for fear that I will be penalized for not giving the medication (ie, vulnerable adult). I am actively searching for new employment, however I may need to apply for unemployment benefits in the mean time. Would I qualify if I quit my job due to being unable to perform my duties as ordered by a physician due to harassment/threat of being fired?

You should document your concerns directly with the doctor (in writing) and with the MN agency which licenses your facility.

You will then be protected under the MN Whistleblower's Act.

If you quit without doing the above you likely would find your UE benefits challenged.
