Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

Wrongful Termination, Discrimination, Harassment, Etc.

I am researching for a friend. Worked for 4 1/2 years for company. All employees including owner/president would always make fun of Canadian heritage (even though US Citizen) Drove him to depression and insomnia. He began to show up late for work. Instructed management he was working thru issues. Immediate supervisor would call all his friends looking for him making embarassing, slanderess comments which in turn made depression and alienation more severe. Fired on 3/22/04. Reason: Too late Too Much! No specific warnings before this. Applied to recieve un-employment benefits and the Company contested and refused to pay it. He did not understand he may have options so did not pursue until he told me the story. Does he have a good, solid case? Has any kind of statute of limitaiton run out? Please advise via - email. Thank you for all your help and advice.

Best Regards!

There is a specific time limit for appeal of unemployment denial which must be followed. In addition to UE benefits he may have a claim for wronful termination. I need to talk to employee before I can advise.
