Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Abandoned Property

My ex-girlfriend moved out from our apt in Duluth, MN on Jan 28, 2007. Even though she signed the lease along with me, I am now paying the entire monthly rent. She left behind lots of personal items (furniture, computer, clothes, etc). I packed everything up and the landlord is letting me store it in the vacant apt next door. She has scheduled different times to come up to get her things (she moved to Wis) but each time she cancels and schedules ANOTHER date. I have had to rearrange my work schedule to accommodate her and now I would just like to get rid of her things. Can I donate them to charity without any recourse from her? Do I need to give her a certain amount of time before I give everything to charity? Can I just text message her and tell her that she has until 3:00 this Saturday (March 24th) to get her stuff otherwise it's being donated? Thank you for your help.

Re: Abandoned Property

There are statutory procedures which must be followed in MN otherwise you could be held liable for damages.
