Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota
My brother, his child, and I all live in the same apartment building there are 8 seperate apartments in the building 6 two bedroom apartments and 2 three bedroom apartments. My brother and his 1 year old daughter live in a three bedroom apartment and has is rent automatically taken out of his paycheck. He was just informed today that he has to move into a two bedroom apartment to make room for a new tennant. My brother has lived in the same apartment for over a year and a half. Is this legal? We both live in Minnesota.
1 Answer from Attorneys
YOur brother needs to have an experienced Landlord /Tenant law Attorney review his lease.
This is critical to reviewing the situation and the question cannot be answered without such a review.
Also- is he in breach ? ( Behind on rent or violating lease policies?)
