Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota
Deposit to hold apartment
I have an apartment that someone said he wanted to rent. I collected the application fee and a deposit to hold apartment. He wanted to move in on the 15th. On the 8th or 9th he asked to show it to his wife, who had been out of town and had not seen. He said she did not want to rent so he said he would not be renting. No lease had been signed. Must I return the entire deposit, since I had taken the apartment off the market for a week and turned down other offers.

Re: Deposit to hold apartment
Try to re-rent it. if you can refund it,if notg keep it.you should have a written agreement when you take a deposit.
