Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Deposit
I have been at my place for about 6 months now. My Landlord that I rented from changed his mind on buying the place from the original owners and now the original owners are coming to me asking me to sign another lease and pay another deposit. Can my new Landlords ask for another deposit, when I have already gave a signed lease and deposit to the other one. To my understanding it should still be a binding document and I should not have do another deposit. Is this correct?

DId the LL on the lease NOT OWN the property when it was signed?

I would need to review the lease and get the above info to advise. I have 27 years experience as a LL.
