Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Am I laible to pay rent in this situation

In March of 2005 I moved into the home of a couple of people that I considered close friends. Nothing was ever put into writing. I was told that I could stay in the house for as long as I wanted rent free until the house was sold. I was living with the husband of the couple. After several months he became unbearable to live with. I moved out into an apartment. Now the couple is suing me for rent. I have no idea how much per month as the issue was never discussed.

Can these people sue me for rent after they have already told me numerous times that I could stay there rent free?

How can they sue you with no amount claimed?

Are they threatening or do you have a Summons and COmplaint?

Call or e=mail for further assistance.

I have 25 years experience as a landlord.
