Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

can a landlord give someone only 27 days to move out

one of my coworkers got a letter from her apt. manager/landlord that

said they were not going to renew

her apt.lease and that she had to be out by noon on the 28th. so when shetold me i started helping her find a new apt. we did find one she liked and filled out the app and

they said they would call her on tuesday it is now wednesday so she called to find out if she got approved and they said she did not

because her current manager told them at her new place that she had been evicted from her old place

how can that be.

No--Eve on a month to month lease, 30 day notice is the minimum and the NOTICE PERIOD STARTS on the last day of the month in which it is GIVEN.

In other words, notice given TODAY is effective at end of February for move out at end of March.
