Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Is lease nul and void?

I am renting a house in which I signed a 6month lease. About a month into the lease I noticed mold that had been painted over was coming back and I got really sick. The doctor told me that I was sick from the mold in the house. After hearing this I called the city. They told me that the house isn't even a licensed rental property. Without evening bringing the city into this (which the house would probably end up condemed) is the lease we signed nul and void?

A recent court of appeals case may help you if the landlord does not have a license.
