Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota
I told the leasing agent for my apartment back in March that I was planning on vacating the property at the end of my lease (June 30th). She never asked me to give a 60 day notice or to put it into writing. When I look back in the original contract that I signed it says that I must give a 60 day written notice, but this was never drawn to my attention. The owner of the apartments has really given me the run around and has said everything from that I now have a automatic lease renewal, to now I have a month to month lease and I must pay July rent as well. The owner has been very rude with me and has threatened to take me to court, threatened to send me to collections, told me the wrong amount due for rent, and yelled at me numerous times over the phone. What are my options?
