Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota
Towed boat and snow mobile
We live in a mobile home park, and had our boat and snowmobile in the storage facility that the park owns. We received a letter from a towing agency saying that our boat and snow mobile were towed. We did not receive anything from the park saying they needed to be moved, nor that they were going to be towed. One year ago, they had us license and register them, hand in a form telling them what we had in there, and sign their lease for the area. My brother went up to talk to the office, and they said they had already taken care of the tow fees, and were going to take care of the storage fees of everything that was towed out. My brother called the tow location to make arrangments to pick up out items, and he was told it wasn't a tow fee that the park payed, but a destruction fee. They have the boat, don't have record of the snowmobile. The fee for the storage is over a thousand dollars, and WE would have to pay that to get it out, if they do have the snowmobile there, the fee on that will be the same. If we don't go get them, the bill goes to collections. What are our options? We forgot to ask when it is scheduled to be destroyed, but as we had to make arrangments to get a vehicle to tow the boat, I would imagine that it is soon.
