Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

Trapped with a Horrible Roommate & his Dog

I entered into a lease with 2 other people... They broke up and we signed one of those people off. The roommate I have now, came home with a dog without asking and the dog has peed all over and ruined my furniture and our carpet. He doesn't let the dog out and he sits in his kennel all day everyday. Not only that, my roommate is only 20 and drinks and has parties all the time. I've tried to have mutiple civil conversations with him about it and all he does is swear and me and call me names. I feel unsafe, and uncomfortable in my home. I have found other people to move in in my place and he refuses to sign me off the lease. I've talked to the landlord mutiple times and no action is being taken. Is there anything that I can do? I'm trapped and severly unhappy, and its affecting every other aspect of my life. No one deserves to be treated this way. HELP!!

You need to get me a copy of the lease, and I can then advise you. Sounds like you have a basis to break the lease, but there are hoops you must jump through first.

Call or e-mail.
