Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Minnesota

Gall bladder surgery

I had a laporscopic removal of my gall bladder, I immediately after surgery, had numbness in my leg ,around the knee area with tingling and shooting pains. After a year, I still have some of the numbness and shooting pains,also that area hurts (pins and needles feeling) when it is touched or press against.It has lost some sensation when it comes to cold and Hot At first, my doctor thought it could of been from the surgery belts being to tight around my knee area, which caused surface nerve damge.Now he isn't saying to much.He sent me to a nurologist , he said, it something that can just come on and will take time to heal.. I have some documentation that this happened during the surgery because it was my number one complain and i seen him about 2-3 times this year for that purpose DoI have a case against this Doctor or the surgery team that put those straps on me?? How long can i wait to take action if i decide to?

You may have a claim against the doctor and hospital but it will probably require a doctor who is willing to testify that what happened was a deviation from teh standard of care. The statute of limitations to bring a claim in a medical malpractice action is normally 4 years. The date that the 4 years begins can vary depending on the circumstances. I would recommend that you immediately contact an attorney in Minnesota that handles medical malpractice matters to actually discuss the specifics of this matter to see if it is worth while proceeding.
