Legal Question in Military Law in Minnesota

''Good of the service'' packages

I am currently enlisted for Active Reserve. I served 4 years honorably on active duty. I was honorably discharged, returning two years later for the AR program. Before enlisting into the military I was ''disqualified'' for osteochondritis dessicans. A year later I was able to enlist. 3 surgeries later I can no longer take the pain nor do I have family to help me out when I have the surgeries. I am due to have another surgery on my right knee. I was submitted for a medical board after L knee surgery and they came back claiming ''fit for duty'' which does not mean fit for full duty and my case has been closed. I have a year and a half left on my extension and will be unable to do any kind of training to meet Marine Corps standards. My command is trying to do a good of the service package They don't have experience with these and are, in my opinion, dragging their feet. Are there any other options to be released from active duty for me? It takes quite the toll being a Sgt after 8 years and not being able to lead Marines in the way a Sgt should. The problem that I have is something that could be unfixable and I will continue to have surgeries throughout my life ending up with prosthetic knees. Any help on the matter would be appreciated

There are no other options except to be patient with the process. You are entitled to a full evaluation of your physical capabilities and full due process for any separation proceedings which may apply, if you are not physically qualified for full duty. What you are not entitled to is expedited service. Best of luck.
