Legal Question in Personal Injury in Minnesota

beat by a police officer

my brother and his friend were talking to a police officer. i walked up and asked what was going on. The police officer told me it was none of my business. I kept standing there. he told me to step back, i did then he said he would arrest me for obstruction of the legal process. i told him i know my rights and know some things about the law. he pushed me then threw me on the ground by the back of my head. he ending up breaking my two front teeth in half and spraining my jaw and wrist. i also had many bruises and cuts on face, hip, arm, and toe. i was charged with obstruction of the legal process without force. do i have a case?

Re: beat by a police officer

Sir:

You possibly have a claim for violation of your civil rights/civil assault. The strength of your claim is based on the permanency of your injuries and the facts of your individual case. Without knowing more about your situation, it is difficult to determine "whether or not you have a case." Also, were their any independent witnesses (other than your brother and friend)?

Please be aware their are statutes of limitations and notice requirements regarding filing a claim. If you have not contacted an attorney, I recommend you do so at once so as you can be informed about the relevant statutes and notices.
