Legal Question in Personal Injury in Minnesota
My car was involved in a hit-and-run. The driver was speeding, blew through a stop sign, swerved or lost control and totaled my vehicle. The subject then left the scene of the accident. When the police questioned as to who was driving the vehicle, they said that the vehicle was stolen. But, yet, the vehicle was sitting behind their residence. My insurance adjuster will pay me an amount but it is not enough to pay off the loan that i currently have on my vehicle. And, it is the only vehicle that I have. My question is can I sue the owner of the vehicle?

Just to be sure:
- You have identified both the driver of the vehicle that hit you and the vehicle itself?
- Were you injured in the collision?
Seems strange that a vehicle would be called "stolen" by the police, yet there it is behind their residence.
