Legal Question in Personal Injury in Minnesota

Insufficient Settlement Money?

Hello, and thank you in advance for your time.

I was in a car accident Jan. 19th 2000.

I have numerous medical bills and expect large bills in the future. The maximum settlement amount receved is 1 million dollars, this is still not enough for future medical.

Should I seek money from the insured driving the vehicle?, since the company he worked for has made the maxium settlement?

Re: Insufficient Settlement Money?

You may have a claim against your own insurance, provided you had automobile coverage at the time. If you have not been "made whole" by the settlement with the tortfeasor, you have a possible Underinsured Motorist claim against your own policy.

As far as whether or not you would have a claim against the insured driver, you have not provided enough facts for me to give an opinion.

You need to be working with an attorney on this if your damages are that severe. There may be several insurance policies available to pay for your injuries depending on the particular facts of your accident. You do not provide enough information to say what coverage there may be for sure.

You need to talk to an attorney. If you would like to give me a call my toll free number if 1-800-235-7600.

I do not currently represent you but would be happy to discuss this matter further if you wish. You should know that there are limits on the amount of time you have to bring a claim against another driver.

Good Luck.
