Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota
i was dating this guy and he gave me a key to his house, because i would stay there sometimes. We broke up and I did not want to deal with him so i gave the key to a friend and he went over to the to grab my stuff. He accidently grabbed some things he thought were mine, but we returned everything that was not mine. Now this guy is threatening turning me into the police, for the mistake my friend made. This guy even submitted a claim on his renters insurance even though he got everything back. He is doing this to blackmail me so I will talk to him. he has been stalking me for a year and my 16 year old daughter he has harrssed also. What should I do??

My advice is to make a list of everything you took including all of your things and all of your ex-boyfriends things. Keep a detailed journal including dates, times, and all details regarding when you returned the items and specifically what items were returned. If possible, take pictures or video of you returning the items. Also, consider having your friend draft an affidavit signed and notorazied clearly stating what he took, that it was an accident and that it has since been returned.
In the meantime, consider getting a harrasment order for protection. For information on this process, check out the website: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=609.748
Minnesota Statute 609.748 will outline the process of obtaining the harassment order.
