Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Eviction

My wife left me 4 months ago and I haven't been able to pay all my rent. I am being evicted and have a court date for next thursday. What should I tell them? I don't have the $2500 and I need a cheaper place. Nobody will rent to me after an eviction, so what do I do?

Re: Eviction

Call the landlord/lawyer BEFORE the hearing, tell them you will move out nicely and to have the judge stay the entry of the writ of restitution until the agreed date. Ask them to consent to an expungement of the eviction proceeding if you live up to your promises.

Note: general thoughts only, would want to see lease and learn all details before giving definite advice.
