Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota
Foreclosure/delinquent association assessments
i am behind in association dues for my townhome.. a sheriff sale has been scheduled for April 23, 2008. In january i sent 500.00 which at the time would have left me owing about 250 in dues--the association sent my check back and on the same date filed a lien. They continue to send me monthly statements telling me to send my money to them but also have an attorney-- i now have a bill of 5200 (1300 of which are dues) and have since threatened acceleration of the current years assessments--the attorney refused to send invoices or an itemization of legal fee and collection costs as i feel they are excessive claiming attorney client privege?? they recently sent me a propasal to stop sale or acceleration of 2500 immediately--then my dues approx 1300 by end of april--then said i need to call them to find out what my remaining balance is to pay by end of may?? many more details but hard to fit in this box!

This looks way more complicated than a brief answer here. Go to the Minnesota State Bar Association FindALawyer website and get a consult with a good real estate lawyer in your area.
