Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota
Inactive real estate license
The real estate agent that signed a legal contract with me was inactive at the time of signing, and for a period of 5 months. How do I find out why he was inactive, and does this make the contract legal if he was inactive at the time? Are there any reprocussions for signing legal documents during an inactive status?

The first thing I would do with a question like that is call the licensing folks at the MN Department of Commerce: 651-296-6319. Tell them you want to talk with someone about a licensed realtor.
It seems to me that what you are describing is a misrepresentation. When you signed the contract you thought you were dealing with a licensed realtor. If you were not, that would be very likely to void the contract in my opinion.
After you hear what the Dept. of Commerce folks have to say about your person, you should consult a lawyer about this. What you get from the phone call to the State is useful info but it's not legal advice. (Neither is this response, by the way) Details not included in your question could make a big difference.
