Getting my name off of a mortgage and loan
I own a townhome 50/50 with a friend who will not refi and let me off the mortgage. What can I do to get my name off the mortgage and note without him knowing?

Your options are significantly limited. Without any written contracts as to how the real estate interests will be handled or the obligations of the parties, you would be required to bring a "partition" action. In a partition action, a court may determined the respective interests of the parties and order the real estate sold or, if possible, divided.
