Property easement rights
My property has a drainage easement in my back yard, last week someone from my city came onto my property & 2 of my neighbors & mowed down 1/8 acre of our cattails & landscape in our backyards. They also dug a trench for drainage. They did not notify any of us before doing it. Doesn't a city have to give you notice before doing something like that. I understand that an easment allows them access to property but it doesn't seem legal to not even notify us first or discuss not destroying our ''nature preserve'' as it was called in the description of our property when we purchased it. Do we have any legal recourse?

The sort of thing they did is exactly what I always understood a drainage easement is for. There is no notice requirement that I know of.
Notice would have been a courteous thing to do, but probably wasn't required.
If I were you I would write a letter to the city and say something to the effect that next time they are going to do that, could they please let you know in advance - just because you don't like being surprised.
