Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Quit claim deed

My girl friend and I bought a home together but due to credit problems I was the only one to be able to get a loan and my question is I think she should be listed as part owner of the home in case some thing happens to me she will have some thing on file in the county to say she is a owner of the said property

I was told to file a ''quit claim deed '' but to me it says I am transfering my deed to her

What does a quit claim deed do and is there any thing else I can do to show she has ownership of the property ?

Re: Quit claim deed

You would execute a quitclaim deed from the ownere (you) to you and your girlfriend as co-owners. Keep in mind that will entitle her to an equity interest in that property and if you should pass away, she may acquire that residence as her own.
