Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Recorded Judgement

I am in the process of buying a home and had a previous judgement from over 2 yrs ago that was discharged. While doing the approval paperwork, one processor noticed that the judgment was embossed with the county seal. I was told that I needed to go down to the county court? to have it recorded otherwise it would lead to problems before closing. Do you know how much this will cost and exactly where I am supposed to have this done, and exactly what is the actual term of what I need them to do when I get there.

Re: Recorded Judgement

I'm not sure what "embossed with the county seal" means in the context of your question. If it means you still have the original satisfaction in your hands, take it down to Court Administration and have the satisfaction filed with Court Admin. As long as you are there, you could have them run a judgment search against you, which will cost about $5.00, so you can show it to the lender.
