Re: Remove and add name to deed or title of a house

I first need to know how you and your husband held title: does the deed say you own in "as tenants in common" or as "joint tenants" or sometning else?

If it's as joint tenants, all you need to do is record an affidavit as to his death. If it's tenancy in common, a probate may need to be opened.

Did he have a will? Was there already a probate?

Once you are the only one on the title, you can usually add someone else by recording a quit-claim deed, naming them as either a joint tenant or a tenant in common.

Please e-mail me directly with the answers I've requested, and I can help you further.
