Disclaimer: This response is for general information purposes only and does not create an attorney-client relationship. You should consult an attorney about the specifics of your situation, and this response is not intended to be a substitute for such a consultation.

Response: Both the county and the township have some legal authority to regulate land use, but it is very hard to even guess at what the county is up to based upon the information you provide. I suggest you take that letter to an attorney of your choice for a consultation, and review the entire situation with your attorney. Putting the gate back up, or taking any action on your own, would be a bad idea without legal advice.
