Selling My Apartment Building
I own an apartment building with my wife and my mother and father in law we want to sell the property they don't we had a buyer but they wont sell. what do we do.

An attorney would need to review the facts of the matter first (examine title, see if property is owned as tenants in common, joint tenancy, etc.). After doing so, a partition action may be appropriate. Feel free to contact me to discuss.

I assume you own it as tenants in common. Any one or more of you can compel a sale of the property by starting a partition action in district court. If the property cannot be physically divided without harming its value (almost certainly the case with an apartment building), the court orders a sale of teh property and the net proceeds are divided among the owners. Once everyone understands the law and that a partition action will be filed, the reluctant owners usually agree to sell without going to court because the court ordered sale often does not get the highest price and there are significant court and legal expenses that reduce the return to all the owners.
