Tenants unwilling to pay rent what can i do?

my tenant living in the same house as mine is not wanting to pay rent for this month. Can i lock him out and hold his stuff till he pays or is there nothing i can do?I do not have him on lease it was a vurble aggrement. please help

You better not lock him out. There can be big trouble if you do that. You can't keep his stuff either.

The only thing you can do is start an eviction proceeding in court. Then if he won't leave you can have the Sheriff seize his stuff - and using a licensed and bonded trucker - move his stuff to a licensed and bonded warehouse. And this will really cost you.

Yes, in Minnesota the law tends to favor the bums and derelicts. We tend to be much too "nice." We tend to enable the addicts and leaches. This does not help them in the long run, but I only practice law and don't make the laws.
