Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota

auto insurance

what punishment is common/recomended for driving without insurance. I am a disabled man who barely makes ends meet with my monthly disability check. I am not able to walk to purchase meds or food so my drivers liscence is critically important. I'm 50 years old and I have never ever had any run-ins with the law whatsoever. I am literally scared sick about what might happen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: auto insurance

Driving without insurance is not a good idea, but many people are in situations like yours. If you cannot find any cheap liability insurance, and you have to risk driving, you must drive very carefully. The criminal consequences are not that stiff for a first-time offender, but subsequent violations will potentially lead to jail time. Also, your license gets suspended for 30 days when you are convicted of a first-time offense.

The other problem with driving without insurance is that if you get into an accident, your liability for any damages will have a majorly devastating impact on your life. As I said earlier, drive very carefully if you are not insured.
