Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota
Hit and Run Passenger
My nephew let a friend drive his car. He was a passenger in the back seat. While driving they hit another car. The driver paniced and took off. Neither of them reported the accident. The driver of the car they hit, got his license plate and has contacted him. What will happen to him for not reporting the accident and the vehicle being his?

Re: Hit and Run Passenger
He is in a bad spot, because his only defense is to rat on his friend.
Nobody will believe your nephew wasn't driving. I don't believe it. He will be charged with leaving the scene - a misdemeanor - unless the other driver doesn't report it.
If possibe settle with the other driver right away, on the theory that maybe he won't report it.
Good luck.
