Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota
Do I Have to Pay Anything?
I was in bumper to bumper traffic. The car ahead of me stopped short and I couldn't stop in time. I rear-ended it and caused a ding in the driver's bumper. However, the driver said that his bumper was already damaged from backing into something previously. Now, he wants me to pay for half of the repair costs. The damage was under $1000, so no police report was made. I think that driver's insurance should cover the repair costs of his previously damaged bumper. What do you think?

Re: Do I Have to Pay Anything?
His insurance may already have paid for his damaged bumper and he didn't have it repaired.
You are responsible only for the damage you caused.
