It's not unusual that someone is unclear about how the Department of Public Safety (the driver license folks) and the court system relate to one another.

Because No Proof of Insurance is a violation that that has a sort of "built in" timeframe - 10 days - even though the court system seems as if they took longer than that to hear you out on the insurance issue, DPS takes it's actions without even the opportunity for a hearing first.

The question about how DPS can do that is rather broad, so I won't get into it here. You do have remedies, though. You may be able to have the revocation of your license Administratively Reviewed by DPS. Contacting DPS, Driver and Vehicle Services Division will get you started. You can reach them by phone or check their website. Certainly, if your revocation is ultimately rescinded by DPS, that should go a long way toward resolving your Driving after Revocation charge.

If you get hung up, feel free to call or email me.
