Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota

I just received a letter in the mail telling me I needed to go to court for 'school bus stop arm violation' (MN 169.444.2 - this is what the officer wrote - don't know if it's a or b). I knew I would be getting this summons as on Monday as I was coming over a hill, I saw a bus stopped with its yellow lights on. I slowed down as much as possible and it wasn't until I was even with the bus did the stop sign come out. There were no youth visible as they were sitting in their parents car. There was no way I could safely stop prior to the bus. After I went by and the stop sign came out, the parents chased me down in their vehicle to get my license plate number.

I am unsure of what to do next. Should I take pictures of the hill? Is it best to seem defensive or should I be apologetic. I am willing to pay a fine, but would like to avoid having a Misdemeanor on my record.

Those are tough situations. With facts as you have described you may be eligible for a stayed sentence which would result in the charge eventually being removed from your record. I would suggest talking to a local attorney.
