Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota
Seatbelts
What is the law about policemen pulling you over for not wearing your seatbelts. Can they pull you over on that alone.

Re: Seatbelts
First of all, there is a separate law that just deals with restraints for children. If the child is four or under, they have to be strapped in with a proper child safety seat - and you can get a ticket for not doing that and I see no reason why you can't be stopped just for that.
When it comes to everybody over the age of four, however, I see a provision in the statute which says "A peace officer may not issue a citation for a violation of this section unless the officer lawfully stopped or detained the driver of the motor vehicle for a moving violation other than a violation involving motor vehicle equipment." See MN Stat. Sec. 169.686 Subd. 1 (b).
So the short answer to your question is no.
